Fees
The centre receives
no government funding and must meet all expenses from
fees. All fees are payable in 7 days unless prior
arrangement has been made with the director. Fees are
not refundable except in exceptional circumstances.
They may be considered in the following cases:
Enrolment Policy
There is a $20.00
deposit to secure the position of your child in the
Centre and will be deducted from your term fees once
your child has commenced the program.
Contagious diseases
A list of these and
the exclusion period is pinned on the pin up board
inside the centre.
Behaviour
management policy
Montessori
identified 3 developmental levels of self-control in
young children. From 0-12 months the child is unable to
control his will. The parent must be responsible for
his safety. From 1-5 years child is able to exercise
self-control but not all the time. He needs
flexibility, understanding and positive guidance. From
5+ child can and usually chooses to control his
behaviour. We believe that the most effective way to
achieve socially appropriate behaviour is by the
consistent modeling of it. Positive behaviour is
acknowledged with warmth and genuine appreciation not
praise or reward. Children are given many opportunities
to practice socially appropriate behaviour with
Montessori’s grace and courtesy exercises at group or
circle times.
Conflict
resolution
This is done on an
individual and respectful basis. Children are asked to
identify inappropriate behaviour and reminded that we
will not allow anyone to hurt them and we cannot allow
them to hurt anyone either. Eye contact with the
student is made and retained and strategies for
regaining self-control discussed depending on age level
of the child.
Change
of Clothes
Parents should send
a change of labeled clothes with their child every day
in the event of accidents. A supply is also held at the
school.
Sun smart
policy
Children are
required to wear wide brimmed hats and sunscreen
whenever they are outside in spring and summer months.
If your child does not have a hat on that day then one
will be provided for him/her. Sunscreen will be applied
to your child before we go out for outside play. If you
do not wish this to happen please let our staff know.
Medicine
Centre staff will
only accept prescription medicine within its expiry date
with medication plans for dosage etc outline by a
doctor. No “over the counter” medication will be stored
at the Centre or administered to children. Parents of
children with specific medical conditions like asthma
will be required to complete appropriate forms to allow
staff to store medicine or administer treatment.
Snack and
Drink
The centre provides
spring water but children are welcome to bring their own
drinks. Snacks should be healthy, fresh fruit,
sandwiches etc. Sharing of food is not permitted.
Children are
permitted to eat snack whenever they are hungry during
session time. A snack table is designed for snack time
and the routine will be demonstrated to the parents and
children during their first session at the centre. No
nuts or nut related foods are allowed at the centre. We
do have some children that if exposed to nuts in any way
will cause an anaphylactic reaction – that is a reaction
requiring an immediate injection of adrenalin, ambulance
attendance and hospitalization . Please label your
child’s snack box and drink bottle clearly.
Toy policy
Toys are
discouraged and will be collected by staff for return to
the child’s caregiver if they become a management
issue. Weapons of any kind are prohibited. We do
however have show and tell in the kindergarten so the
children can bring an item of their choice to place
inside the show and tell basket but it must be kept
there at all times and not played with throughout the
session.
